Fast Netbook Systems?

A question from a consumer. When and how can I tell if a netbook has (relatively) quick performance. I'm not a gamer. Typically I'm running Word, Excel, Acrobat Pro and a web browser all at same time. The netbook I have (see below) is slow switching between apps. I need a semi-technical (no expert) method of knowing how to judge simple usability speed. It looks like netbooks might be there soon with dual processors coming out. Thanks for any input. Andy

Here is a fairly extensive chart of mobile processor benchmarks:

The processors are ranked from fastest to slowest:

1-49: Current peak of notebook processor performance, won't be phased by most uses

50-99: Mostly processors from the last generation (~2 year old performance) with good performance, won't be phased by most uses

100-199: Low end processors from the last generation (~4 year old performance) with acceptable performance, shouldn't be phased by general computing

200-299: Processors from 3 generations back (~6 year old performance) with poor performance, may be stressed by multimedia heavy web browsing and general multitasking

300-399: Low end...

None of the netbooks have quick performance yet. My 6 1/2 year old laptop has much better performance. AMD will be introducing some very promising processors for netbooks before the end of the year. I would wait for them if at all possible to benefit from the increased performance and increased competition in the marketplace.
